A 70 year old bingo winner was so shocked to have landed a UK bingo jackpot that she told her club's manager "not to be silly".
The 70-year-old won almost £30,000 on the Afternoon Delight game.
Her husband also couldn´t believe it and told her she would not have won more than five quid.
"I didn't believe it when they told me how much I had won," the lucky lady said. "I was out of the door when the manager told me I'd got the national prize but I told him not to be silly."
She won the big one at the Mecca Bingo club in Taunton after filling up a full house in 40 calls - the lowest number throughout the UK.
Online Bingo enjoys mobile growth
September 26, 2008
When Bingo made the initial move online bingo it wasn’t a case of instant success. There was a bit of a pause for consideration in the bingo playing population, trying to work out what on earth was going on.Many different factors are responsible for the sad decline of many traditional bingo halls, including recent changes to the gambling laws in the UK and also the public smoking act, and last but not least, the internet.
The vast potential offered by the internet, bringing the whole world to your desktop, has made for an incredible expansion in online bingo fever, not limited by the distance of the nearest bingo hall when bingo fans realised that they could enjoy a good game of bingo online in the privacy of their own home, the online bingo craze really kicked off. With players of all generations enjoying this new way of playing bingo, it became a real success story.
It’s estimated that about 3 million people in the UK regularly play online bingo. UK bingo sites are harnessing the latest advancements in technology to provide a truly pleasurable experience for bingo fans. Chat games, free bingo games, networked bingo rooms with massive jackpots, TV bingo and now mobile bingo. With ever more satellite channels available, TV bingo became the logical next step for the popular game of bingo, making it even more available and easy to play just by pushing a few buttons on the remote control.
The popularity of the TV Bingo shows is increasing daily, providing easy fun and entertainment for the entire family. UK bingo fans have online access to an estimated 1,900 online bingo sites via the internet. With mobile phone technology increasing in leaps and bounds over the last couple of years, the latest fashion is mobile online bingo. No longer just available at home, bingo fans can play bingo on the move, sitting on the train, waiting at the bus stop, even on holiday! Mobile bingo games are starting to become widely available, many sites allowing free download of their bingo games to mobile handsets. A recent mobile bingo jackpot winner at Mecca Bingo staked a £1.50 bet on her mobile and won a £3,000 jackpot – enough to cover her mobile bill.
Online bingo craze in the UK
September 6, 2008
Once the transition took place to the Internet, Bingo games have dramatically changed their accessibility for millions of people sitting at their home comfortably to play enchanting online bingo games of assorted varieties through 1900 online Bingo sites. The fun and thrill hit the roof when they hit a jackpot, because apart from Bingo all the sites also provide ample chances to win big prize monies through the side games, slot machines being popular ones.
Latest news is Crown Bingo has crowned one of their players online, who hit the biggest jackpot ever offered by them to a player playing the side games. The lucky winner is a lady aged 52, Lillian Gibson from Lancashire, (need any more proof for the frenzy of British lady folks in playing online Bingo and other games?) and what she did was playing the popular side game namely Pirates Plunder. Plundering the huge progressive jackpot of £17,186.04 took her only £1.50 to be wagered for playing 15 lines at 10p a stake!
She sat dazed and scaring the computer screen in disbelief, when she struck the mountain of a prize money with as little as £1.50 stake. Then coming back to senses, her joy found no bound to contact Crown Bingo operators to receive the big bingo prize. She happily revealed that she is planning a big family holiday, depositing on a holiday home in Spain as also celebrating a wonderful Christmas this year.
The point is to caution you – Beware this joyful jolt can occur to you anytime while playing your choicest Bingo games or any other slot machines games online!
BINGO IS THE BEST WAY TO WIN A MILLION
Wednesday, October 08, 2008
A Cambridge University mathematician claims punters should go "eyes down" at the bingo hall for the best chance of winning a million pounds. Researcher Dr Oliver Johnson claims the National Bingo game, when the country's bingo clubs share an evening link-up, gives you a 200,000-1 chance of becoming a millionaire.
More obvious routes to fortune - such as the Lotto or game shows like Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? - were much less likely to result in a jackpot win, he said. The probability researcher worked out the odds on a £10 bet placed on various gambling formats. Camelot's National Lottery Lotto draw came out with odds of 1.4m to one to earn a million. And ITV1's Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? quiz show fared even worse with odds put at 1.5m to one, according to Dr Johnson. Just behind bingo came sports betting, which generally provides punters with 247,596 to one odds of becoming a millionaire.
The jackpot on Clover Rollover, one of Crown Bingo's most popular slot games, has now reached the staggering figure of £1 million.
2nd August, 2008
All it will take is one lucky £1 spin for a player to win the life changing sum on Crown Bingo's Irish themed slot machine. Last night the jackpot stood at £1,026,989 and it is growing at an estimated £10,000 per day.
The £1,000,000 progressive jackpot is the largest to be offered at Crown Bingo and can be won from as little as a £1 stake by matching five Lucky Shamrocks on selected paylines. The jackpot, which increases every day until someone wins it, has been accumulating at Crown Bingo for five months and sits alongside a number of other successful mini-games, most notably Chickeno and Cleopatra's Chest, both of which boast a £250,000 jackpot.
The total jackpots that can now be won by players across the Crown Bingo site are £1,900,144.
Managing Director Dan Smyth said: "It's fantastic to be able to offer our members the opportunity to become a millionaire by playing just one of the games on our site. We're constantly looking to provide the best slots and mini games for our members to enhance their enjoyment and experience of Crown Bingo."
Crown Bingo currently offer three bingo rooms, including one speed bingo room, with a variety of bingo jackpots. The £1000 Piggy Bank jackpot has seen dozens of winners since its launch ten months ago, while the progressive bingo jackpot, The Cash Cow, is currently worth £10,000. With the launch of two new bingo rooms on the horizon and a strong selection of side games Crown Bingo is one of the most varied and feature-rich online bingo websites.
Crown Bingo also operates a busy promotional calendar, giving away thousands of pounds worth of prizes and bonuses every month. August's promotional focus will be on the Olympic Games, with a number of prizes available to be won by any Crown Bingo member during the Olympic period of 8th - 24th of August.
'Gold', 'Silver' or 'Bronze' prizes will be awarded to winners of selected 9.30pm bingo games throughout this period, with prizes including a Family Safari Day Out, a Shopping Spree and a European Holiday Break. Olympic themed chat games and a prize draw offering entrants the chance to win a Nintendo Wii with Wii Fit will also be on offer at Crown Bingo throughout August.
Woman Sued Over Dead Dog Bingo Contact from Grave
10th July, 2008
Kate Starky, is suing her neighbour for £35,000, accusing her of stealing her secret bingo system by talking to her dead dog in a s`eance.
Kate, of Exeter, UK, took legal action after her neighbour, Jane Jones, started winning mysterious amounts of cash at their local bingo game. ` The neighbour revealed she had held a s`eance to communicate with Ralph, Kate's dead dog. Ralph was asked to reveal Kate's secret bingo system which she had been using to great success over many years.
"My bingo system was a goldmine," said Kate, "it has paid for countless trips to New York and a small amount of cosmetic surgery, just to freshen up my look."
The neighbour, Jane Jones, defended herself saying, "Ralph was like a son to me and Kate can't accept that. He used to jump the fence and I would let him lick my Walnut Whip. It was natural for Ralph to tell me the secret, it's what he wanted, it's his gift to me. I have already won over £5,000 in a month and we are planning to have a life size replica of Ralph made in marble to go in the hallway.
The composition of the bingo secret is still unclear. Although, friends of Kate say it's based on a combination of the last number she sees on television and a mathematical formula involving David Hasselhoffs' birthday. The calculations dictate which bingo cards she selects.
The s`eance in question was held by maverick Spiritualist guru, Ian Clark. A rogue, freelancing s`eance facilitator, Clark specialises in communicating with deceased pets. Rumour has it he helped the ex wife of a bank robber locate his loot by contacting his pet canary which shared his cell for three years.
When Kate found out what had happened she was fuming, and contacted the police, "Communicating with my dead dog without permission is worse than bugging my phone". Police released a statement, "We do not involve ourselves in matters of deceased canine communication. If the dog were alive we would have a case for dog tampering. As it stands, we view this as a civil matter."
The case has yet to be heard before a Judge. "It's not about the money," Says Kate, "I feel Ralph would never betray me and I feel he has been conned into revealing my bingo secret. He was bribed, I bet she reminded him of all those Walnut Whips".
Fellow bingo players said, "Kate was always winning, she said it was her system, but I think she was carrying on with the bingo caller and that was her secret."
Another regular claimed, "We are thinking of pooling our money in order to get Mr Clark to perform our own s`eance, but Ralph has gone quiet. Word is that he has gone over to the other side."
Kate adds, "Ralph's collar still hangs on the back door." When I last visited the house, the lead still hangs there, no longer taking Ralph walkies. The cat walks past the lead, arching its back and hissing. I feel the hairs on the back of my neck rise and the room chill.
No word on the bingo secret though. A vigil is now being held at Ralph's grave by lottery ticket purchasers.
William Hill Bingo player scoops £17,000 on his first day!
10th July, 2008
One lucky William Hill Bingo player has won a huge £17,807.12, just three hours after opening his online bingo account! After deciding to give one of the 17 side games a try, his 20p spin of the Pirates Plunder mini game won him the huge jackpot.
The win meant that he had earned over £5,500 for every hour that he had been a William Hill Bingo customer! Pub landlord Scott Robinson, of South Yorkshire, commented: "I can't believe it really, and it all seemed to happen so fast, I'd sat down and was enjoying trying out the games on the Hills site and now I've won £17,000! I'm delighted, I think I'll use some of the money to take my staff for a couple of good nights out, or maybe even take them away for a few days, as in the pub game they all work so hard."
Jennie Prest, spokeswoman for William Hill Bingo, said: "True to the Pirates Plunder game he was playing, Scott turned up suddenly and nicked our treasure! Such a big win for a new customer is terrific for Scott and for us, making over £17,000 in 3 hours is pretty good going."
European Bingo Champion crowned Saturday night
July 7, 2008
Robert Robinson, a Workshop man, was given the title of European Bingo Champion last Saturday after winning the grand prize against 660 qualifiers.
In addition to winning the title, Robinson is also now the new owner of a new car, a Chevrolet Aveo.
“I can’t believe it,” Robinson said. “I’ve never won anything as big as this before. It took me two hours solid to slug it out and qualify for the final but it was well worth it. I’m glad England weren’t in Euro 2008 now or I might not have entered and won the car.”
Thousands of bingo players entered the contest on paddypowerbingo.com, but the field was narrowed down to 50 players who competed in the final. All players who made it to the final walked away with prizes including holiday trips, home makeovers, laptops, cameras and free bingo.
“The response to our European Bingo Championships was phenomenal and definitely something we’ll be looking at doing again in the future,” said David Lyons, paddypokerbingo.com representative. “In the meantime, the fun doesn’t stop there! We’ve a whole host of promotions running in July. We’re giving away diamonds with the launch of our new 75-ball Diamond bingo room, free games to all new players, great regular prizes, and lots, lots more!”
This was the first ever European Bingo Championship hosted by Paddy Power Bingo, but it sounds like it won’t be the last.
